Mary A. Johnson, Ph.D.
Mary A. Johnson received her B.A. in Psychology from The University of Michigan-Dearborn, her M.A. in Family Studies and her Ph.D. in Psychological Foundations of Education with a minor in Aging Studies from The University of New Mexico. While in graduate school she worked in nursing homes in several capacities, took hospice training, obtained a nursing home administrator's license, and after graduation, besides maintaining her private practice, managed a retirement apartment community and two assisted living communities.
She has published in magazines, newspapers, and academic journals,and presented at local, regional, and national conferences and workshops. Her professional memberships include American Counseling Association, American Psychological Association, Association for Death Education and Counseling, New Mexico Psychoanalytic Society, New Mexico Counseling Association, and a lifetime membership in Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology. She is licensed as a counselor in both New Mexico (LPCC) and Oregon (LPC).
